During most of the year, it is traditional to pray the Angelus at 6 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m. But during the Easter season, the Regina Caeli replaces the Angelus. Both prayers honor our Blessed Mother and her role in our salvation.

Why the Regina Caeli Replaces the Angelus

The Regina Caeli is brief enough to become a steady Easter habit. Traditionally it may be prayed in the morning, at noon, and in the evening, but it can also be used whenever a person wants to pause and return to the joy of Christ’s victory.

Set a reminder for one regular time each day and pray the Regina Caeli slowly and attentively. Let its joy shape the rest of the day by choosing hope over discouragement and gratitude over complaint.
When the Easter season ends, return to the Angelus as a daily remembrance of the Incarnation. Together, these two prayers help order the year around the mysteries of Christ.
