How do I pray for my wife?
Pray for your wife by thanking God for her life and entrusting her particular needs to his care. The prayer above can be offered with her name and the intention most on your heart. It may be her health, a decision before her, a burden she carries, or the hope that your love will grow.
You can pray even when you are unsure what to ask. “Father, you know what she needs today; be close to her” is a real prayer. Your wife’s whole life belongs in that petition, including her relationship with God, her gifts, and the concerns that are hers alone.
What should I pray for my wife each day?
You can pray for her faith, health, peace, protection, and your love as husband and wife. These short intentions can help you name what you are asking:
- For faith: “Jesus, strengthen her trust in you.”
- For health: “Comfort her in pain and give her strength and rest.”
- For peace: “Father, meet her in the worries she carries.”
- For her work: “Bless her efforts and give her wisdom for today.”
- For your love: “Make me a faithful husband, attentive to her dignity.”
Prayer can hold gratitude and concern together. You may thank God for her courage while asking him to sustain her through something difficult. You may rejoice in a good day and still pray for the health or peace she needs.
Can I pray the Memorare for my wife?
Yes, you can pray the Memorare while asking the Blessed Virgin Mary to intercede for your wife. Before beginning, name the intention: “Mary, please pray for my wife, especially for…” Then offer the traditional words printed above, unchanged from The Knights’ Prayer Book.
At the wedding at Cana, Mary noticed a need and brought it to Jesus (John 2:1–11). Her intercession leads us toward him. The Memorare’s confident language is a way of entrusting your petition to her maternal prayer; it does not prescribe how or when God will answer.
What is a short prayer for my wife?
A short prayer is: “Lord Jesus, bless my wife, strengthen her faith, care for her health, and fill her with your peace. Teach me to love her faithfully. Amen.”
You can return to those words during the day or pray just one line when you hear of a particular need. If your wife is ill, “Jesus, be near her in this pain” may express what is on your heart. If she is rejoicing, “Father, thank you for this gift” is enough. Length does not measure the love with which a prayer is offered.
How can I pray for our love as husband and wife?
Ask Christ to strengthen your fidelity, deepen your love, and help you both grow in holiness. The grace of sacramental marriage is directed toward the couple’s love and unity; Christ remains its source (CCC 1641–1642).
You can offer our Prayer for Marriage for your shared life. The companion Prayer for My Husband gives a wife words for her own intention. For times of serious strain, the Prayer for Marriage Restoration brings hurt and hope before God.
Close with a petition for both of you: “Lord, receive our love, forgive our sins, and draw us closer to you.”
