Prayer for My Husband

A prayer for my husband entrusts his faith, protection, work, health, and our love to God. Pray these words for him, followed by the traditional St. Joseph Memorare.

Prayer for My Husband

A Wife’s Prayer for Her Husband

Heavenly Father, I place my husband in your loving care. Thank you for his life, for the good you have planted in him, and for the love we share. You know him more deeply than I do. Receive the concerns I can name and those he carries quietly.

Draw him close to your Son. Strengthen his faith when he doubts, lift him when he is discouraged, and give him courage to turn away from sin. Help him know that he can come to you with an honest heart.

Bless his work and every responsibility entrusted to him. Give him wisdom in difficult decisions, integrity when he is tested, and peace when his efforts seem unnoticed. In unemployment, disappointment, or financial worry, sustain his hope and remind him that his worth is greater than what he earns.

Protect him in his journeys and daily work. Care for his body and mind, comfort him in illness, and grant him the rest he needs. Be near him in fears he finds difficult to express.

Teach me to love him with patience, respect, and tenderness. Forgive the ways I have failed in love. Guard us both from bitterness and unfaithfulness, and deepen the love we promised to one another.

Through the intercession of St. Joseph, keep my husband close to Jesus. Lead us together toward the life you desire for us, and help us love you in every season of our marriage. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Joseph Memorare

Remember, O most chaste spouse of the Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who implored thy help and sought thine intercession was left unaided. Full of confidence in thy power I fly unto thee, my spiritual father, and beg your protection. O foster father of my Redeemer, despise not my petitions, but in thy goodness, hear and answer me. Amen.

How do I pray for my husband?

Pray for your husband by bringing his name and his actual needs before God. You can pray the words above as they stand, adding his name in the opening line. There is room for gratitude, worry, and the request you have carried for months. God already knows the whole person you love.

You might pray before he leaves for work, during a quiet moment, or at the end of the day. A brief prayer can be quite specific: “Father, give him wisdom for the decision he faces today.” You do not need to know every burden he carries to entrust him to God.

What can I pray for my husband each day?

You can pray for his faith, protection, work, health, and the love you share. Naming one intention can give a scattered prayer a clear place to begin:

  • For faith: “Jesus, help him know you and trust your mercy.”
  • For protection: “Father, keep him safe in his work and journeys.”
  • For work: “Give him integrity, purpose, and hope when work is difficult.”
  • For health: “Be near him in pain, anxiety, or exhaustion.”
  • For your marriage: “Teach us both to love with patience and fidelity.”

These intentions belong together. A husband may be carrying illness into his working day, or bringing the fear of losing a job into his prayer. You can ask God to care for him in all of it.

Which saint is patron of husbands?

St. Joseph is a patron of husbands and fathers, and you can ask him to pray for your husband. As Mary’s spouse and Jesus’ foster father, Joseph was entrusted with the care of the Holy Family. The Gospels show him responding to God amid uncertainty and danger.

Pope Francis reflects on Joseph’s faithful care and work in Patris corde. The St. Joseph Memorare above gives words to the request for his intercession. Its traditional language expresses confidence in his prayer; the help itself comes from God.

Can I pray for my husband’s faith?

Yes, you can ask God to deepen your husband’s faith or draw him toward Christ if he is distant from belief. Ask for the light of the Holy Spirit, freedom from sin, and a heart open to grace. You can also pray for your own growth in charity.

A simple petition is enough: “Lord, meet him in the questions I cannot answer, and help him recognize your love.” Prayer entrusts his freedom to God. It cannot set a timetable for another person’s conversion.

How can I pray for our marriage?

Pray for the grace to love one another faithfully and to grow in holiness together. The Church teaches that Christ gives sacramental spouses strength to forgive, bear one another’s burdens, and deepen their love (CCC 1641–1642).

Our Prayer for Marriage places your shared life before God. A husband can also use the Prayer for My Wife. If you are carrying deep hurt, the Prayer for Marriage Restoration gives words to that intention.

Whether today brings gratitude or concern, you can close with this quiet request: “Father, keep my husband and me close to Jesus, and help us love you together.”
