Ending the Day with Our Lord

Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus praying in the evening

At the end of a busy day, how important it is to spend some of our remaining time with our dear Lord! We thank Him for a safe day, ask His blessings on our night, pray for ourselves and others, and ask forgiveness for our sins.

“He who does not pray deprives himself of what is indispensable for life” (St. John Vianney).

“Prayer is the encounter of God’s thirst with ours” (St. Augustine).

It is fine to use our own words, but it can be helpful to use written evening prayers. The ones we present here are lovely traditional Catholic prayers and include a prayer by St. Augustine and a prayer by St. Alphonsus Liguori.
