Brother Michael Involved with Catholic Campus Ministry Retreat

Brother Michael with those attending and assisting with the Busy Person's Retreat

From February 17–21, our very own Brother Michael had the opportunity to assist with a Busy Person’s Retreat at the Newman Center of Southeast Missouri State University.

This unique form of retreat is designed especially for college students who sincerely desire to grow in their spiritual life—but who are also navigating the demands of academic schedules, work, and daily responsibilities.

Rather than stepping away for several days in silence, the Busy Person’s Retreat meets students right where they are.

Each day, participants met individually for about 30 minutes with a spiritual director, offering them a chance to reflect, ask questions, and receive guidance in their relationship with God. In addition, each student committed to spending at least 30 minutes in personal prayer daily, creating space to listen more deeply to the Lord.

All of this was thoughtfully scheduled around the student’s existing commitments—making it possible to enter into a retreat experience without leaving campus life behind.

Throughout the week, there were also optional evening gatherings and a daily free lunch, fostering both spiritual growth and authentic Christian fellowship among the students.

Brother Michael was blessed to serve as one of the spiritual directors, accompanying students as they sought to deepen their prayer life and discern God’s presence in the midst of their busy lives.

This retreat is a powerful reminder that an encounter with God does not require perfect conditions—only a willing heart.

Even in the busyness of college life, God is present.
Even in the midst of responsibilities, He is speaking.
Even in the ordinary rhythm of the day, He is inviting each soul closer.

Please keep all of the students who participated in your prayers, that the graces received during this retreat may continue to bear fruit in their lives.
