It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude that I write this letter to you! Your prayerful and monetary support for our new home was a gift from God. The outpouring of love and support in remodeling our new home was simply a grace filled moment in the lives of the Knights as we are amazed at God and His Majesty. Thank you for responding.
We have been working diligently on our new home. On October 7, 2016 Bishop Conley came and blessed the Sacred Heart Friary. Our hearts are filled to capacity as this is a special day to all of the Knights. October 7, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, celebrates the victory at Lepanto, the battle that saved the Christian West from defeat at the hands of the Ottoman Turks. The Rosary just as important for us today as we fight the good fight as Christians are under increasing persecution all over the world. St. Padre Pio said, “Some people are so foolish that they think they can go through life without the help of the Blessed Mother. Love the Madonna and pray the Rosary for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today. All graces are given by God pass through the Blessed Mother.” Let us pick up our Rosary and pray each day for Christians to triumph in this battle.
We are also offering thanksgiving to God because on October 4th, three young men became novices with the Knights. They received their habits and will spend the next year or so in intensive prayer, spiritual direction, and discernment of the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. By professing to follow the way of St. Francis, the Knights have chosen a special way of following our Lord. They are giving up everything in service of God and their brothers and sisters. In doing this, the Knights find out what is really important and of value. The goal is to see God’s presence and action in all of creation. This means going from a person who is concerned primarily with their own needs to becoming a person who also lives for God and for others. They learn a new way of being in the world. It is a journey of self transformation. Please keep these men in your prayers.
